CN Railroad Repairs

CN Railroad Crossing Replacement –The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Canadian National (CN) recently confirmed they will be replacing the Main Street (M-19) railroad crossing beginning August 14th

There are two components to the work being completed on Main Street (M-19) in August/September.  The first component is the replacement of the railroad crossing on Main Street (M-19) that begins Monday, August 14th.  Main Street will be closed at the railroad crossing for two weeks to allow for the repairs (August 14th – August 25th).  MDOTs detour for the railroad crossing replacement is 32 Mile Road (Division Road) to Gratiot Avenue.  All truck traffic and M-19 traffic should follow the MDOT detour.  Local traffic will be able to access the businesses along Main Street up to the Railroad Crossing.  Residents will be able to utilize local streets such as Oak, Howard, Gleason and Forest to get around the community.

In addition to the crossing replacement, MDOT also has an M-19 Micro-surfacing project from Richmond to Memphis that they will coordinate with the railroad repair schedule.  Micro-surfacing is a thin layer of asphalt placed over top of the existing asphalt road surface.  On August 7th, MDOT’s contractor will begin replacing ADA sidewalk ramps along Main Street.  M-19 traffic will be maintained using single lane closures and flaggers during the micro surfacing and sidewalk ramp portions of the project.

This is an MDOT project as Main Street is a state highway (M-19).  The contact person for the project is Mark Koskinen, 248-794-3905.  Mark is serving as the MDOT Project Engineer for the project.
