From Councilor Olson's Perspective . . . . .

I was first elected to the Richmond City Council in April 2000 to fill an unexpired term of office.  I had one personal goal for myself: to be a good listener and to do what is right for the citizens of this fine community.  Well, many meetings later, that is still my primary goal.  My long term goals are:

• Work as a team member with City Council and administration on our budget process, thereby maintaining sound financial standing for the City of Richmond
• Continue to maintain high quality city services; however, also continue to find ways to lower taxes
• Continue with our growth management plan for the city
• Recruit commercial and light industrial development to the community
• Continue the Sidewalk Improvement Program (SWIP)
• Complete the Rails-to-Trails Project (starting in Richmond and extending 24.5 miles to the west to Shelby Township)
• Continue the study of City Hall space needs and explore the options (expanding at present location or building a new municipal center which would include a new library)
• Continue to work on traffic and access management issues

I see Richmond as a great place to live, raise a family, work, educate our children, shop, and play, and I would like that to continue for future generations.
