The Planning and Zoning
Division is a division of the Office of the City Manager and is
administered by the city's Planning and Economic Development
Director. The Planning and Economic Development Director
is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of, the City
Manager. The Administrator is responsible for organizing and
directing the development and administration of programs to guide

The Planning Commission advises City Council on all matters related
to the orderly growth and development of the City of Richmond,
including applications for rezoning, special conditional uses, site
plan review, some commercial signs, as well as any amendments to the
City's Master Plan. The Commission also reviews all public facility
applications to ensure that they are compatible with the approved
Master Plan. Public hearings are held by the Planning
Commission to provide citizens with the opportunity to have input on
land use recommendations that are forwarded to the Richmond City
Council for final action.

Hearings
The Planning Commission meets
the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at Richmond City
Hall, 68225 Main Street. Notices of Planning Commission public
hearings are displayed as classified legal advertisements in The

accordance with applicable law.
