Mission Statement
The Recreation Department is committed to providing clean, safe, well maintained parks and facilities to the citizens of Richmond and its surrounding townships, and is dedicated to coordinating efficient cost-effective programs and special events to promote and enhance the quality of life in Richmond.

The Recreation Department is managed by the Recreation Director appointed by the Recreation Board, subject to the confirmation of the City Manager, who is responsible for all City recreation programs involving administration, supervision and scheduling, along with the coordination and utilization of city recreational facilities.

Recreation Board Membership

The Richmond Recreation Board is established by city charter and comprises seven citizen members appointed by the City Council for two-year, staggered terms.  The City Manager and one city councilor also serve as ex-officio members of the board by virtue of their respective offices.  The Recreation Board is responsible for identifying and coordinating recreational needs in the Richmond area.   The Recreation Board meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month at City Hall, 68225 Main Street, at 7:00 p.m.

 

 

IMPORTANT NEWS AND INFORMATION

  • ROMEO2RICHMOND HALF MARATHON - The second annual Romeo 2 Richmond Half Marathon is Sunday, September 18, 2011.  Last year almost 470 runners and 120 volunteers made this event a success.  Race organizers are looking for both participants and volunteers to help put on the event this year.  For more information please CLICK HERE.

  • SUMMER RECREATION GUIDE - The Recreation Department's Summer Recreation Guide is now available online.   Registration for City of Richmond Residents is Monday, May 16th.  For non-residents registration begins Tuesday, May 17th.  For a copy of the Summer Recreation Guide please CLICK HERE
