The collection of solid waste, yard waste, and recyclable materials is performed by Priority for the city by contractual arrangement. The City of Richmond customer service page on Priority's website can be found here.

Solid waste and yard waste are collected each week on MONDAY. Curbside recycling is collected every other Monday depending on which side of Division Road you live. For a schedule, please click here.

Collection is delayed one day for Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day if the holiday falls on a Monday. In such cases, collection will take place on Tuesday.

COLLECTION SCHEDULE

Your trash and yard waste pick-ups will occur each week on MONDAY. To ensure pick up, please have your items at the curb by 7:00AM or the night before (After 7:00 PM).

SOLID WASTE COLLECTION

Priority will collect solid waste placed curbside in carts up to 96-gallons in size or properly bagged. Do not place rubbish at curbside in paper bags. Maximum wright per container is 50 pounds per bag and 75 pounds per cart. Priority will continue to service your current cars (maximum 96 gallons). YARD WASTE COLLECTION

GOOD – Grass clippings, leaves, shrubs, & brush trimmings (under 4 inches in diameter a& less than 4 feet in length). 

BAD – Sod, per waste, dirt, rocks, trash, root balls, branches (over 4 inches or long than 4 feet).

Yard waste is collected the first MONDAY in April through the last MONDAY in November. Place yard waste at the curb four (4) feet from your rubbish in following manner: Place yard waste in brown paper yard bags or a 32-gallon container, clearly marked “Yard Waste”.

  • Gasoline & Automotive oil
  • Car & truck parts/Engines/Tires
  • Hazardous Waste/Liquids/Oil base Paint
  • Yard Waste mixed with Trash
  • Concrete/bricks/construction materials
  • Cyclone fencing, railroad ties
  • Tree Stumps
  • Liquid Latex paint
  • Batteries

To find out how to properly dispose of these types of products, and any others that you are not sure about, contact the Environmental Health Services Division of the Macomb County Health Department at 586-469-5467 on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

BULK PICK UP

One Bulk Item per week is allowed with no call ahead needed. Large items such as furniture, appliance, stove, hot water tanks, grills, etc. will be collected on the same day with your rubbish. Please remove any doors from refrigerators or appliances before placing at the curb. (FREON REMOVED). Carpet is also accepted.

REFRIGERANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Under City Code and state law is unlawful for any person to leave outside of any building or dwelling, or in a place accessible to children, any abandoned, unattended, or discarded icebox, refrigerator, trunk, or any other container of any kind which has an air-tight door or lock which may not be released for opening from the inside of the icebox, refrigerator, trunk, or other container, without first removing the locks or doors therefrom.

PAYMENT FOR SERVICE

The cost for collection services for each property in the city that has collection pickup is placed on the summer tax roll and collected when the summer taxes are paid.
