The 2023 Barbie movie is a live-action film that follows Barbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) on a journey of self-discovery following an existential crisis. The film begins with The Narrator (Helen Mirren) explaining the societal impact of the Barbie doll on history. The movie follows somewhat of a hero(ine)’s journey arc, complete with a car chase and a rise to leadership. The film is directed by Greta Gerwig and is self-aware, emotional, and packed with incredible humor!
