CITY ASSESSOR POSITION

The City is seeking applications for part-time Assessor (MCAO), 16 office hours per week.  Minimum of 3-5 years of Assessment Administration experience desired.  This position reports to the City Manager.  

City of Richmond - located in Macomb & St. Clair Counties, 2674 parcels.  Population    5,875   

MCAO required.  Salary range $31,944 – 32,572 DOQ/E.

Duties include but are not limited to:  

  • Preparing the Assessment Roll by identifying, inventorying and determining values for all parcels located in the City, along with calculating assessed and taxable values in accordance with the State Tax Commission (STC).  
  • Administer and maintain special assessment rolls (IFT, Comm Rehab), complete sales analysis, perform field examinations and inspect new construction, and process land divisions in accordance with the Land Division Act.  
  • Conduct an annual personal property canvas and gather personal property audits.  
  • Responsibilities also include:
    • Conducting March, July and December Board of Reviews
    • Representing the City at any Michigan Tax Tribunal proceedings
    • Preparing the department budget
    • Keeping the City compliant with the CAMA Data Standards and AMAR review.  
  • Experience with BS&A software and good communication skills required.
