Married, father of three adult children, and grandfather to nine grandchildren- Retired from the Macomb County Department of Roads

- First elected to City Council in November 1995, served as mayor from 1997 to 2001, and selected by City Council as Mayor again in November 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025
- Chairman of Richmond Good Old Days Festival Committee from 1983 to 1988, and 1993 to present
- Richmond Board of Education from 1988 to 1996
- Richmond Planning Commission from 1997 to 2001, and 2003 to present
- Coached softball in the community for over 40 years; including travel, Junior Varsity and Varsity at Richmond High School
- St. Clair County Columbus County Park Advisory Board from 2007
- AFSCME Local 893 Labor Negotiations Board
- Regional Youth Initiative "The Aud" Board member
- Member of the Richmond Area Historical and Genealogical Society
