This spring the City of Richmond is reconstructing Oak Street and Priestap Street. The work will include limited water main & sanitary sewer replacement, curb repairs, sidewalk & driveway repairs, and removal & replacement of the existing asphalt pavement.
The impact to most residents will be relatively minor. In most cases at least one lane of traffic will be maintained during construction and residents should have consistent access to their driveway. The Contractor is allowed to begin working at 7 a.m., each morning. On street parking will be prohibited between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. during construction.
The least amount of car traffic during construction is ideal and will help speed up the construction process. Please try to avoid these areas whenever possible. Businesses within the project area are open for customers.
UPDATE - The new water main has passed pressure and bacteriological testing and can be connected to the water distribution system. The Contractor intends to complete the connection at Priestap & Beech Street on Monday, and begin transferring water services to the new main on Tuesday. Sanitary Sewer repairs were completed on Oak Street this week and the main was replaced on Priestap, west of Oak.
